HOMETOWN & NOTABLE ADDRESSES:
I’m originally from New York—Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. We’re a rare breed these days! After college near Boston, I taught in Newark, NJ, moved to Oakland, CA for my masters at UC Berkeley, then to Johannesburg, South Africa. I’ve been back in New York since late 2010 and in Jersey City since the summer.
I have more like an 8 a.m.-10 p.m., but I love every second of it. I am a fashion journalist, and I freelanced until I started my own site, Always Fashion Week. I still run a fashion column on Dominion of New York, and I work with Poshly, a new digital beauty startup. I’m also about to launch a dating blog, thehesaidshesaid.com (coming soon).
YOUR MOST MEMORABLE UGS EXPERIENCE?
I am super girly and I love pampering, so any event where there’s spots for applying makeup, facials, massages, or champagne will rope me in and has since early 2011. I loved the Cocktail Party to Benefit Hurricane Sandy Victims because it gave us the blessing of casting off our own hustle and bustle and helping others while having a cocktail and chatting with other awesome ladies.
IF WE CAUGHT YOU MID-SPLURGE YOU’D BE…
At Ladurée on the Upper East Side. I need chic shoes and bags like they’re air, but macarons have become my little treat to myself. There’s nothing like biting into the decadence of a salted butter and caramel macaron, besides biting into another one.
YOU WISH YOU HAD MORE TIME TO:
See my niece, who just turned 8 and started her own fashion blog. I wish I had more time to take her for tea at Bergdorf’s and to see art at the Guggenheim (which she explicitly requested).
